 SEMA Car "Chocolate Thunder" Stolen
 $5000 Reward Offered

Eaton Corporation is joining in the worldwide search for Chocolate Thunder the $450,000 award-winning show car built by Rad Rides that was displayed at the Eaton booth during this years SEMA show. A $5,000 reward is being offered for tips that to lead to the return of the classic car and arrest and conviction of whoever took it.

The vehicle, a 1937 Ford convertible with an Eaton supercharger, limited slip differential and Aeroquip hoses, was stolen around 6 a.m., April 6, from a parking lot in Brockville, Ontario, Canada along with its support trailer and Ford pick up tow vehicle.

Police have no leads and there are fears that the vehicle is headed out of North America and destined to be sold on the black market. It was one of three classic vehicles stolen that week in Brockville.

Rad Rides visionary Troy Trepanier said his team has sunk more than 8,500 hours into building the custom vehicle for its private owner. The vehicle was touring car shows throughout North America and was being transported in a 32 trailer sponsored by Eaton. Please contact Rad Rides @ (815) 468-2590 with any information.

(Vintage spoke with Rad Rides in late April....... the car was still missing)

 Thunderbolts Car Club
 A Vintage Friday's Sponsor....

The Thunderbolts Car Club photo shoot at Sacramento Vintage.

The Capitol Auto Club was started in 1945 by a group of Sacramento area "Hot Rodders". They held their first meeting in a chicken coop on Fulton Ave. which at that time was not even in the Sacramento city limits. This first meeting was to discuss forming a car club whose members would have a common interest in racing their Model T and Model A Fords at the Lazy "J" Speedway in Sacramento.

This first get together was the beginning of their "Official" every two week meetings that have continued without a miss for 60 years.

At the first club meeting, the official club name, "Capitol Auto Club" was decided, however there are 2 and sometimes 3 different stories about how they adopted their nickname, the "THUNDERBOLTS" or just "BOLTS".

 Monkee Mobile.........

The Monkee Mobile being unloaded at the Advance Restoration facility in Sacramento.

The car, now part of the George Barris Stars and Cars Collection has consigned Advanced Restoration and Auto Body to perform the meticulous restoration of this unique vehicle. It will be featured on a new DVD release.

Advanced Restoration and Auto body will prepare the car for the 40th Anniversary tour in 2007. Mike Gray, owner of Advanced Restoration, will do a complete frame-off restoration of the wildly popular TV Car. The car will be as it was on the original TV show, stated Gray, and with research will be restored to its prime.

The car will be premiered at the November SEMA show in Las Vegas with its public unveiling at the San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show January 12-13-14 at the Cow Place in San Francisco, then its on to a world wide tour in the World of Wheels/ Autorama custom and Hot Rod Shows.

We will keep you up to date on the progress!

Was it a TV show? Was it a rock n' roll group? It was neither, and it was a little of both. Mickey Dolenz equated their becoming a group to Leonard Nimoy becoming a Vulcan.

The Monkees, although brief in its original run, was about a group that did play, that did perform their own music and the way they did it left an impact on generations both young and old and will do so for years to come.

 Mail Order F-100
The Sacramento Vintage Mail Order F-100 Project Is A DONE Deal!

Color Me... Done! - Feature Article - Classic Trucks Magazine The Sacramento Vintage Ford Mail-Order F-100 Hits The Road

By Rob Fortier, Randy Lorentzen

I think I speak for everyone involved with this project when I say, "Whew!" The finale of our project '56 F-100 buildup couldn't have come sooner...well, it could have, but nonetheless, it feels great to finally say it's done!

Actually, the person who's probably most relieved that the Sacramento Vintage Ford Mail-Order F-100 is a wrap is the man responsible for the majority of the truck's assembly, and that tip of the hat would go to none other than Mr. Tech Center himself, Jason Scudellari, a.k.a. Installation Jason.

 UTE!.... a what?
 What's A Ute?

The All Steel Australian Built 1934 Roadster Ute. The top photo is of Kel Waddington (center) of Roadster Ute Inc. with Tex Smith (L) and Ron Ceridono (R) of Street Rodder Magazine with the first brand new 1934 Ford Roadster Ute

The lower photo is of the Ute in our showroom with Kel from Roadster Ute, Inc. and Ron Palmer (Sacramento Vintage) adding the removable top frame assembly to the body.

In 1928, Ford Australia decided to continue the side of the passenger compartment straight back to the rear of the vehicle, then added a tailgate. This created a much larger carrying area than the usual pickup bed and allowed for the capacity of a small truck in a standard sized vehicle.

This vehicle was known by various names at the time, such as "Standard Utility Car", "Open Light Delivery" and "Roadster Utility Vehicle". The latter name was shortened to "Roadster Ute" and the vehicle is affectionately known by that name to this very day.

At this time a Model A version is not available (we have had many requests), but maybe later.......?
