PPG Ferrari Red Finish Worn by 2008 Ridler Award Winner

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - May 19, 2008 - PPG Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red was selected as the paint finish of choice on "Ferrambo," the 2008 winner of the Ridler Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the world of custom automobiles. The award is presented to the most outstanding new custom car making its debut appearance at the Detroit Autorama, held each year in March.

It marks the second time in three years that a PPG finish adorned the Ridler Award winner.

Sporting contemporary Ferrari 360 Modena mechanicals wrapped by the much-modified skin of a 1960 Rambler wagon, Ferrambo is modern power and technology in a gorgeous vintage envelope, a creation built from the combined talents and out of the box thinking at Divers Street Rods, Startup, WA, and Ferrambo owner Mike Warn, president of Gran Prix Imports, Wilsonville, OR

Pittsburgh-based PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiberglass. The company has more than 150 manufacturing facilities, equity affiliates and operates in more than 60 countries.

This years Midnight Mass will be held at the Cal Expo fairgrounds. It will be outside, on the west side parking lot, so bring your popups.

No bands have been booked, as yet, but the Poor Boys promise some really good ones. With an open lot there will be plenty of room for everybody and nobody will get lost.
Although we won't be at a hotel this year, the Marriott Village, the host hotel, is literally right around the corner (within walking distance).

Cal Expo will be charging a $8 parking fee for spectators, but the Midnight Mass show is FREE.

 Surf City Garage
 Deluxe Car Care Products

We would also like to welcome Tim Miller and the good folks over at Surf City Garage for their sponsorship and support of our Vintage Fridays Car Shows for the 2008 Season!

We will be giving away some very nice Surf City Garage car care products this year!

Tim Miller at the Garage:

"Step into Surf City Garage and you are transported back in time. There before you is a Flying A gas station, just like it was in the 50's. A '68 Shelby GT-500 sits at the pumps. You walk through the Shelby Showroom, past a 22-foot long neon Buick dealership sign and head toward Corvette Corner. In front of you is a red and white '58 Corvette, the first car I ever restored. Just to your left is my wife's '54 Polo White Corvette. Straight ahead an original Chevrolet Super Service sign signals your entry onto Chevrolet Way, where you are greeted by a '55 turquoise and white Bel Air hardtop. Next on this brief tour, you reach MOPAR Alley on your right, flanked by Pontiac Row on your left.

On the wall is a huge neon Pontiac dealership sign. Looking down, you see a '67 Cameo Ivory GTO Coupe. Now at the other end of our garage, you enter a complete restoration shop. Here expert craftsmen maintain our collection and restore new acquisitions. Professional detailers clean and wax over a mile of 60's chrome. When you have over 100 vintage muscle cars, the work never stops.

With 30+ years of experience and hundreds of thousands of hours of detailing to keep everything looking better than new, we long ago learned what really works and what doesn't. So, with a lot of trial and error, we developed our own. We even hired our own chemist. Then we kept making our products better until our own detailers said they were the best anywhere."

Sacramento Vintage will have the complete product line available in the store and on our website!

Flowmaster, Inc. is housed in two ultra-modern facilities together totaling over 400,000 sq. ft., one in Santa Rosa, and the other in West Sacramento, California. Flowmaster employs over 250+ workers dedicated to building the highest quality U.S. made exhaust products available.

Thunder In Depot Park Number 17

Photos of the Thunderbolts Capitol Auto Club, Thunder in Depot Park Show in Rio Linda, California.

The Capitol Auto Club was started in 1945 by a group of Sacramento area Hot Rodders. They held their first meeting in a chicken coop on Fulton Ave. which at that time was not even in the Sacramento city limits. This first meeting was to discuss forming a car club whose members would have a common interest in racing their Model T and Model A Fords at the Lazy J Speedway in Sacramento. This first get together was the beginning of their 'Official' Bi-Weekly meetings that have continued without a miss for 60+ years.

The National Hot Rod Association has declared the Capitol Auto Club Inc. as the oldest continuousely meeting 'Hot Rod' club in the United States.

 The Henry Ford - Chocolate

"Research tells us fourteen out of any ten individuals like chocolate." - Sandra Boynton, illustrator and writer of "Chocolate: The Consuming Passion"

The above quote speaks volumes about our love of chocolate. Many of us would rather give up a bad habit or another food than forego chocolate. Indeed, it seems apt that the scientific name for chocolate, Theobrama cacao, means "food of the gods" - a reference to its roots in Mayan and Aztec ceremonies. Chocolate: The Exhibition introduces visitors to chocolate's natural and cultural history. Through scenic elements, original video, interactive exhibition techniques, photographs, and over 200 objects, visitors to Chocolate will discover this food's impact on both world cultures and tropical ecosystems. As an exclusive treat, The Henry Ford will take a deeper dive into America's contributions to the history and impact of chocolate, drawing upon its own collections. In fact, chocolate's history in America is filled with unique and significant innovations - innovations that transformed this food from an elite luxury to an affordable and appealing staple in almost everyone's diet."

Written by Donna R. Braden, curator of public life at The Henry Ford.

Henry Ford Museum is open seven days a week, 9:30am to 5pm. Admission is $14 for adults, $13 for seniors and $10 for youth; members and children four and under are free. For more information please call (313) 982-6001 or visit www.TheHenryFord.org.

Take A Kid To A Car Show!

There have been countless studies done to prove it, but virtually everyone knows that spending quality time with a kid is the greatest gift you can give them. And sharing your appreciation for collector cars is a great way to nurture their interest in a hobby that you can enjoy together for many years to come.

We are all constantly reminded of a kids need to express themselves. What better way to help them do that, than to nurture their appreciation for an interesting and & collector vehicle?

Teaching a youngster to appreciate something as special as a collector car is a terrific way to communicate strong values of respect for all things, to help them understand the value of our history and our culture. And they will quickly learn positive ways to express themselves, perhaps even with a special car or truck that matches their own personal style.

Who knows how far it might go? Your young companion may grow up to be a talented restorer, or racecar driver, or even an executive in the performance automotive aftermarket industry.

(Did you know that SEMA offers scholarships to deserving young people who have indicated an interest in a future career in the automotive field?)
